On Friday, Aug 1, 2008, Capt. Rick Bacon and I
left the safe confines of the Hancock Harbor Marina and headed for
the open seas....well, the open Bay, at least. We encountered a bit
more head wind that we'd expected, so we had to motor the entire way
up the river - about 20 miles or so until we hit the Salem River and
turned right. It was an interesting ride, dodging the crab pots,
broaching the waves up and down just like on "Most Dangerous Catch"
- all that was missing was an enraged captain throwing a frozen crab
at me. All he had was a ham sandwich, and I wasn't goofing off
that much either.
Unfortunately, the dopey crew member (me!)
left his camera at home on the tripod, so I don't have any exciting
pictures to share. After about 3 hours, we pulled into the
Home Port, La Marina Del Jimbo, and there she sits, ready for a good
cleaning and the next stiff breeze.
